Fiordland

The townships of Te Anau and Manapouri provide lakeside bases to explore New Zealand's largest National Park and pristine World Heritage area. New Zealand’s wild beauty is on epic display in the stunning landscapes of Fiordland.

Untamed waterfalls tumble hundreds of metres into virgin forested valleys and lonely fiords greet sunrise with birdsong. Stretches of crystal clear lakes shimmer against a backdrop of vivid green rainforest and towering granite peaks.

Fiordland National Park is home to the natural wonders and untamed wilderness of Mitre Peak, Milford and Doubtful Sounds.

Milford Sound

A spectacular journey to a majestic destination, there are many photographic and walking stops along the way to Milford Sound so allow plenty of time. Once there, explore the fiord by kayak or cruise. For the underwater perspective on this unique environment take a guided diving experience or visit the underwater observatory.

Doubtful Sound

More remote and best known for its silent grandeur, journey across Lake Manapouri by boat and then by road over Wilmot Pass to take the memorable cruise from Deep Cove. Explore aboard a day excursion, overnight cruise or kayak. Look out for the resident pod of bottle nosed dolphins.

Walking the walk

Fiordland National Park is home to some of the world’s greatest multi-day hikes including the Milford, Kepler, Routeburn, Tuatapere Hump Ridge, Greenstone and Hollyford tracks. Walks on these tracks, and many others in the region, can be undertaken with a guide or independently. These walks offer a liberating sense of freedom and an escape seldom found in today’s world.
