A relaxed and fun afternoon for the whole family -- entertainment, games for the kids, food and wine. Come celebrate the grape harvest with the Gibbston community.

The fourth annual Gibbston Harvest Festival once again toasts the spirit of a community that transformed itself from a sleepy sheep farming valley to a high profile winemaking area.  One of the first areas to be identified with grape growing in Central Otago in the early 1980s, Gibbston now has nearly 300 hectares planted in grapes making it about one-tenth of the total Central Otago vineyards. The festival is modelled on European festivals and follows in the footsteps of harvest celebrations held at the district’s first winery, Gibbston Valley Wines, in the 1990s. In recent years international winewriters have lauded Gibbston wines for their finesse and elegance. Special guest at the inaugural festival, Auckland winewriter, broadcaster, and author Vic Williams, says, "Wine is created to be shared with friends and family, and when this simple pleasure can be enjoyed in such spectacular surroundings, the result is pure delight." Proceeds will benefit a local charity. 18 wineries and 15 local restaurants
